Back to what I promised to put down at earlier post. Read them humbly with an open heart.
So the real issue now is priorly having the self-discipline, self-control of yourself, having in control of whats going on inside you. The true problem now is we live it the western society today unlike almost any ancient civilisation. If you look at the history of civilisation, the Chinese civilisation, The Roman civilisation, The Ancient Greeks; all of them considered the controlling of your passion and being in control of yourself as a goal that is worthy of being pursued. Its something which is opposite from the Western world today. It is all about just do it, go for it, enjoy yourself, satisfy yourself and just hang loose. An open mind would definitely agree that this is not a good way to be. There are sayings that this is really fundamentally flawed with how the society live right now.
And what is really interesting recently, I came across with some source, this book on psychology its called 'Flow' by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. They did this long-term scientific study with different people, different section of societies throughout all over the world in many different languages on how to achieve happiness. This is not an anecdote or something.
They discovered something; they are obvious but at same time remarkable. The things that truly makes people happy are not like: -having sex -having beer with friends -watching movie -listening to music or -getting drunk
They found out that people doing those things they did not report a high level of happiness. However, they found the most happy people or societies when they were struggling; struggling and sometimes on the very limit of their ability. In fact, the more it was on their limit of ability, the more satisfaction and happiness they reported. As long as they were struggling and they could achieve something and make them feel as though they doing something worthwhile.
Let's take example of getting drunk. At the end of that event, do you feel you have really achieved something as a human being or contributed somewhere to the welfare of humanity? Definely, the ultimate end of it is misery. Isn't it? Seriously, if the end of the day you dont feel you've not done something worthwhile you're not going to feel better about yourself and how can that be described as happiness. This is the thing, when you have control of yourself, you are struggling. It's hard and its difficult. But what have you achieved, shall be something worthwhile and noble for yourself.
I am a strong believer of leading life with an ample of patience. Its always a virtue for anybody. Equality and justice shall work wonders when we live by it.
I am no doubt like anybody out there. But what separate us are our inner side. 20 years running and I'm learning in reaching a goal of stamping my name on the hearts of anyone that crosses my path.
